Revelation v.s. Information: Part 2

As a child, I knew the information that Jesus had come to be my Savior to deliver me from the power of sin in my life, but it was not until age 28 that I surrendered to His Lordship. Before that I had attempted to hold on to the control of my personal life, rather than looking to Jesus to be the One in control.

The decision to surrender was a very definite and significant one. I remember it well. I stood alone in an empty living room and thought about all the biblical information I had learned in my first 28 years. I understood that it was necessary for me to surrender my heart for my life to come into right personal relationship with Him. None of the information had changed me…but the revelation that followed the surrender…DID!

When I truly received Him as my Savior, an immediate revelation followed which made me aware that He was also to be my Lord and Master, the One in control of my life…the One under whose Authority I was to live…from that day forward…till forever.

Information became revelation when I repented from living my life separate from Him and “doing what was right in my own eyes.” In surrendering my life into His loving Hands, I then knew what Acts 2:36-38 spoke of: “Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, who you crucified, BOTH Lord and Christ! Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’ Then Peter said to them, ‘REPENT and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!”

This revelation that He was to be both Lord and Christ “cut me to my heart“, and I repented for attempting to live my life apart from His control. This put me in a position to truly receive the gift of His Spirit that is Holy!

Though many of us know that the name of the third person of the Godhead is Holy Spirit, sometimes we overlook what truly receiving the Holy Spirit means. It is a truth that is “uncovered” in our heart of knowing that we are receiving into our human spirit, His Spirit…that is Holy.

When the Holy Spirit comes in….satisfaction with “unholy” things goes out. That does not mean that I never sin again, but it does mean that with His Holy Spirit abiding within me, I am never satisfied with sin and iniquity again. It is a revelation to my heart that I want to grow, day by day, in my “outer man” to be more like Him from the inside…OUT!

When I received the Holy Spirit, based on repentance from my sins and receiving the biblical information about Jesus, the Son of God…a new person was born inside my being. I became a new creation in Christ Jesus! Because of this revelation, I began to “see” life and how to live it with new eyes and new understanding!  An entire new realm began to open up before me…the realm of God’s Spirit and life in His Kingdom! The Holy Spirit was leading and guiding me in how to live life and walk in the Way that is the Truth and the Life!

Revelation had replaced information, and once I seriously began to walk with Jesus as His disciple, I “saw” that the goal is growth toward a spiritual maturity in Him. This results in a fruitful, holy life, characterized by godly love and a willingness to serve Him in His Kingdom and see it established on earth as it is in Heaven!

Such a one “hears” the call to “go and make disciples” for Jesus!

DETERMINATION: Working intently to accomplish goals regardless of the opposition.

“Jesus Christ is the SAME…yesterday, today, and forever!” Hebrews 13:8

Looking unto JESUS,

Sandy
