WAIT TRAINING: Part 1, Spiritual Wait Training

STRENGTH IS RENEWED by WAITING on the LORD

Don’t let the title or the images fool you!  This is spiritual WAIT TRAINING…not physical WEIGHT TRAINING!!  This is a series of articles of revelation knowledge concerning WAIT TRAINING that the Holy Spirit gave me the seeds of many years ago.  Over time, those seeds have “grown up” and matured in me; and I am now directed by God to share them with this present generation of young believers (and any older ones who will listen)…to help prepare them, along with my generation,  as the BRIDE of CHRIST!  Our lives here on earth are in a time and place where we are in PREPARATION for PRESENTATION to Jesus, our Bridegroom…at the end of the age…as His “look alike BRIDE” whom His Soul Loves and whom He has waited for!

Back in 1977…about 38 years ago…when I was a young Christian, I had some very good opportunities to be in believing communities that had excellent worship, teaching and leadership for the times we were in.  During that season, we learned and sang many scriptural praise and worship songs that afforded us a great opportunity to learn scripture and begin to apply it to our lives.   One of the scripture choruses we sang came from Isaiah 40:31 which not only taught me those particular scripture words; but in seeking God, He also revealed some spiritual life-lesson truth to me as I sang it from my heart!

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.  They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”  And I add to that monumental verse this prayer from the end of that chorus…”Teach, me, Lord; teach, me, Lord, to wait!”

basic_free_weights_workout_beginnersWe live in an age where people love to have gym memberships to exercise and do physical workouts in an attempt to keep fit and strong physically.  Yet, our “spirit” needs training and exercise, also.  It needs the disciplined training of learning to literally “wait upon the Lord” which renews our spiritual strength…according to the Word of God.  This verse, uses the strongest word in the English language…SHALL….saying that those who actually learn and practice “waiting upon the Lord”…SHALL renew their strength.  Mounting up with wings like eagles is likened to spiritually being able to soar above the problems of earth to view them as our Lord does. It is being able to “run the race set before us” by our Lord and not be “weary in well doing“, and to be like Paul and “finish our race” without being weary spiritually.  These metaphors…these pictures…must be seen in the light of revelation knowledge which empowers us to actually carry them out in our personal lives and relationship with Jesus!

Isaiah 40:31 is a promise of God that we, as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot live without if we are to grow, develop, and mature as He calls His people to do. It, along with all the scriptures,  is given to us for our good so that we will be equipped and enabled to fulfill our purpose as the Body of Christ…especially in these last pivotal days!

945622_532767710112287_660303482_nLooking at the same verse from the Amplified Version of the Bible:  “But those who WAIT for the Lord – who expect, look for and hope in Him – SHALL CHANGE and RENEW their STRENGTH and POWER;  they SHALL lift their wings and mount up close to God as Eagles mount up close to the sun; they SHALL run and not be weary; they SHALL walk and not faint or become tired.”

As God’s people, we are beginning to understand that entrance into His will and purpose for our lives will require some things of us.  This understanding is not something to run from, but rather it is a beautiful truth to run to!  Those who are serious about being a vessel fit for the Master’s use must examine themselves and then be prepared to answer these question in the affirmative!

  • Do you want to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might?
  • Do you want to be able to rise above the circumstances of life that would pull you down and keep you from fulfilling God’s call and purpose in your life?
  • Do you want to be able to run in your appointed race and not be weary?
  • Do you want to be able to walk in the heat of the fiery times we live in and not faint?
  • Do you want to be clothed with strength and honor?
  • Do you want to be armed with His strength for the battle?
  • Do you want to be daily renewed with strength for your spirit, soul, and body?
  • Do you want God to make your way perfect and be able to be firm in His purpose for your life?

These, and more, are all promises God has given to His people!  They are not only attainable, but expected of us by our Heavenly Father.  These are part of the purposes He has made available for His people.  They are part of His vision for our lives.  How could we disappoint Him and do any less than agree with Him in these things?  He gives commands throughout His Word that have the power resident within them to actually CHANGE and TRANSFORM our lives in this way!

There are many reason why we are expected to wait in life. We may not have the full understanding of them at the time; but the promise remains that if we will trust God and walk in obedience to His command to wait upon Him, He will renew our strength!  This is vital and necessary because the quality of strength God provides for the obedient one is an effective force to resist attack from Satan, the enemy of our souls!  Satan has one purpose: He is the “thief” who comes to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10) God’s plan and purpose from each of us, individually, as well as, from us, corporately, as the Body of Christ!  Thereby, continuing to attempt to thwart God’s Plan and Purpose for eternity.  But the enemy will not prevail in the lives of those who will obey God and His Word!

God’s strength is a power that enables us to remain firm under pressure and resistance.  That is not a quality which comes naturally to the flesh nature of man; for it is more inclined to turn and run or crumble in the face of pressure, resistance, and attack.  We need spiritual defenses and weapons to be able to withstand such supernatural attacks.  The flesh nature, by itself, is no match for the adversary of our souls.  That is why we need the strength and power of God to be victorious against the supernatural onslaughts of the enemy!

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have DIVINE POWER to demolish strongholds!” 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV)

“Finally, my brethren, BE STRONG in the Lord and in the power of HIS might!”  Ephesians 6:10

And the last part of John 10:10 triumphantly trumps the ‘thief”, saying of Jesus that He has come to “give us LIFE and that more abundantly!”

  • We will see in this series of articles how directly this is connected to “WAITING on the Lord”….WAIT TRAINING!

  1. Inspired. Waiting is good, but also difficult. In my spirit I am not waiting as much as I am learning lessons of contentment. There seems to be a good bit of connectedness between the two situations. Thank you for sharing your heart. Blessings.

    • Wilma…thanks so much for being a faithful reader and making comments. Contentment is a VERY GOOD thing. We can be content as we wait or as we go…it is necessary to all. Many are in “holding patterns” in this season and need some encouragement to wait patiently…IN HIM!
