WAIT TRAINING: Part 7, Babes V.S Those of Full Age

At some point in the life of every born again child of God who is growing into the person God has ordained that they become, there will be occasions to participate in “wait training.”  The life we are called to requires it; for it is part of that maturing process which molds, strengthens, and perfects us.  None are excluded or excused!

We know, of course, there are many who have not yet reached maturity, for there are e2edfaa3c9a562e41f806d52a5ddd1c5new ones born daily into the Kingdom of God. We rejoice and give God praise for each one!  Obviously, some have not had time to enter into the growth and development process, for they are new babes in Christ as described in Hebrews 5:12-13, living upon the “sincere milk of the word.”

Each of us must develop one day, one step at a time, learning about life in the Spirit “line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little,” Isaiah 28:10.  Our all-wise, loving God gives ample time and protection for those who are in that phase.  Babes in Christ Jesus are not yet ready to enter into the rigors of “wait training”.  Babes and young ones, must be fed on time, cleaned up and provided safe places to grow and develop and rest in the Lord. That is one of the primary responsibilities of the local church watched over by those with pastoral hearts. In small groups of believers and some local churches, they can be fed, tended, nurtured, trained, and taught those first principles of the faith and the elementary principles of Christ.

“But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.  Therefore let us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrines of Christ, the Messiah, advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belongs to spiritual maturity…if indeed God permits, we will not proceed to advanced teaching!”  Hebrews 5:14-6:1 & 3 (Amplified Version).

Though the Word of God often refers to God’s followers as “children”, the passage in Hebrews speaks only of two stages:  those who are considered “babes” (newly born spiritually), and those who are “full age”, or mature.  In this last stage, we include those growing and developing ones who are obediently following on in the process where they are.  They are “mature”…for their spiritual age…just as a 4th grader is “mature” for his or her age…they are progressing on schedule…not drawing back from life at that stage.  So it is with believers in their study and progress in spiritual development in their knowledge and application of the Word of God and their personal relationship with God.

The study of “wait training” is not directed to the “babes” but to the obediently developing ones AND to the stubborn, rebellions, and spiritually lazy who need to repent and return to the life of running with “patient endurance and active persistence the course that is set before them” Hebrews 12:2 (AV).

There are a great number of spectators in the ranks of the church today who have lazily hidden behind the name of “babe” too long!  Their actual life practice reveals that they have not personally taken seriously the commands to develop – to change – to mature in process.  They show by their unchanging and on-going fleshly behavior their disobedience to walk in the sincere “fear of the Lord” and the true knowledge of Him.  Psalms 55:19 (NIV)

Most think that such a slip is not noticed, but in the serious end times in which we are living, God is watching for those who are producing the mature “fruit of His Spirit” in their lifestyle.  In the passage found in Matthew 7:19-23, this becomes more urgent and clear. “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.  Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.  Away from me, you evil doers!”  (NIV)

06e1dca600620b17b1c739993590e3eaA sharp warning such as this is sobering to the sincere soldier or the cross!  God is long-suffering and full of mercy.  He has faithfully shown to all who have called upon His Name in truth that He is love, but He is not a man that HE should change or repent.  He has never changed from His purpose of having a “people made ready for His coming!”  He has never changed from His purpose of preparing His Bride to be ready for the Holy marriage that is to come!  He has purposed to have a mature Bride, one who is full grown and ready to enter eternity with Him.  One not only conformed to His image…but also to His likeness. He calls us to grow, develop, and be filled with all the fullness of God!”  Ephesians 3:19

Such a condition would be one of maturity…ready to be eternally betrothed to Jesus, the Bridegroom.  But to look at most in the church today, there is a preparation for transformation that must yet take place…..

~to be continued….LIVING IN A “HOLDING PATTERN”

Looking unto JESUS,

RESPONSIBILITY:  Knowing and doing what is expected from one

OBEDIENCE:  Fulfilling instructions so that the one I am serving will be fully satisfied and pleased

FAITHFULNESS:  Being thorough in the performance of my duties;  being true to my words, promises and vows.

“JESUS CHRIST is the same…yesterday, today, and forever!”  Hebrews 13:8
